Summary of Duties:

Sunnybrook Centre for Independent Living (SCIL) is currently looking for a Registered Prosthetic Technician to join our team to provide the highest level of patient care to a diverse and wide range of adult amputees primarily in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). As a member of a multidisciplinary team, the Prosthetic Technician will work in conjunction with our Certified Prosthetist teams to manufacture and/ or repair prosthetic appliances. They should be familiar with common prosthetic applications and processes as well as knowledgeable in material management.

 

Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

  • Fabricate and finish all types of endo- and exoskeletal prostheses
  • Fabricate and assemble conventional and myoelectric prostheses
  • Experience in Thermoforming and lamination processes
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of technical manufacturing
  • Repair and service various types of prosthetic devices
  • Experience in handling tools and machinery commonly used in the prosthetic field
  • Workshop care and maintenance
  • Collaborating with patients and Prosthetists regarding technical patient care issues.

 

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Prosthetic Technician, OPC Registered preferred
  • 2 years experience as prosthetic technician
  • Demonstrated manual dexterity skills for technical work
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work efficiently in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively problem-solve technical issues
