Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (HSC) is embarking on an exciting digital transformation with the adoption of a new health information system through Project REACH. The Clinical Informatics Team aims to enhance patient care, streamline workflows, and support clinicians.
 
We seek a dynamic individual to join the Project REACH (Renew, Expand & Advance Clinical Health Informatics) leadership team and play a key role in transforming our digital health infrastructure. Reporting to the Vice President of Digital Health and Chief Information Officer, the Project Director will lead the planning and implementation of an Enterprise Health Information System (HIS) and support organizational change.
 
The Project Director will oversee the complex, multisite HIS implementation and related projects, ensuring best practices and alignment with strategic initiatives are reflected in all stages of the project.
 
Summary of Duties:
 
The HIS Project Director will play a critical role in the success of a complex, multisite clinical and digital transformation initiative through the implementation of a Health Information System (HIS). This role requires providing strategic leadership, clinical informatics expertise, and meticulous project management to ensure the seamless integration of HIS across the organization.
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Utilize project management methodologies to drive standards and execute activities, ensuring deliverables align with strategic plans and initiatives.
• Determine project requirements, assess environments, and develop essential documents, including statements of work and project schedules.
• Undertake accountability for ensuring the team meets deliverables for each project phase, facilitating timely decision-making and completion with a focus on delivering business and clinical value and outcomes.
• Collaborate with the CIO, Director of Clinical Informatics, Director of IS & IT, and Project Managers to monitor milestones and critical paths, reporting on project status for strategic alignment and success.
• Foster an environment that encourages active participation in decision-making processes.
• Participate in the procurement of HIS information technology.
• Oversee and participate in the development and execution of training and conversion plans.
• Guide the REACH Transformation offices, including managers, workflow leads, analysts, and subject matter experts, ensuring project milestones are met and implementation activities are completed.
• Collaborate with leaders at Sunnybrook HSC to implement the HIS and transition to operations.
 
Qualifications:
• University degree in specializing in business, project management or a health related field preferred. Master's degree (Health, MHSc, MBA) would be an asset.
• PMP designation is a requirement
• Minimum of 8-10 years of leading and successfully implementing clinical transformation projects in a large healthcare enterprise environment
• Prior experience leading a HIS implementation is strongly preferred
• Experience in a health care/public sector is required
• Experience in organizational transformation is required
• Proven ability to generate program based metrics and status reports
• Excellent leadership and project management skills and the ability to lead large complex teams
• Proven ability to lead, navigate and work within various governance committees
• Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload with often rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines
• Demonstrated stakeholder management and facilitation skills within multiple levels of an organization and with external stakeholders
• Strong presentation and facilitation experience with a diverse group of people at all levels of an organization
